Science in Fuchsia

Titration! So much fun! So this thursday we played with acids and bases. When you titrate, you are trying to get equal portions of base and acid (measure in moles). We add an indicator, which turns pink as the base is added. If your solution becomes too pink you've messed up and you have to back titrate. It is annoying :(. This is an experiment where it really pays off to be extremely patient.

Above: You can see the indicator reacting as the base is added.

Above: Our waste jar. Since we were mixing an acid and a base, it creates water! So afterwards we just poured it down the drain.

Above: We went to far! We ended up back titrating, which was annoying.

And in my Biology class, we were gonna do DNA analysis, but sadly our samples were not ordered, so we just got to stare at the equipment we would have used, and had our teacher walk us through what we would have done, haha.

Electrophoresis machines that we were gonna use :(.

  2. I agree, I would have had so much fun creating the DNA stripes, and playing with electricity, mwahaha!
